I have a passion for creating art and inspiring new artists. Regardless of your artistic aspirations, having the ability to draw is essential. This is why, a year ago, we at Old Guy Studios LLC decided to open The Studio to bring these resources to our Cookeville community.
It’s important to meet students where they are artistically and give them the foundation they need to excel. This is why we only accept 5 to 6 students per class to allow for more personalized instruction.
In addition to our quaterley workshops we’ve expanded our studies to include 2 "Artistic Learning Tracks".
1. “The Animation Studio” for the 13+ year old students
2. “The Art Studio” for the 8-12 year old students.

The Animation Studio (Ages 13+)
$125* per month
The first 6 months we will learn drawing construction and perspective. Then move into environments and props. We’ll spend some time learning to draw the figure and how it relates to character design. This is when we will start developing the look and feel of our animated show. We’ll design our characters in different styles, from complex and hyper realistic all the way to very stylized and simplistic. Moving into color theory we’ll study various color pallets and designs. We’ll finish our development phase with layouts and color keys. At the end of the six months, if we have time, I’d like to jump into the basics of animation.
The next 3 months we will dive fully into animation. Studying squash and stretch, overlapping action, follow through, and clear posing. We’ll then finish it off with some character animation
The last 3 months of the year will be spent doing character animation from the show we’ve developed. It’s going to be an amazing journey!

The Art Studio (Ages 8-12)
$120 per month
The first 6 months we will be working in black and gray studying shapes, shadows, highlights, and tones. All of our projects will be centered around acquiring those skills and reinforcing them. We’ll spend time drawing animals, people, and various objects. All with the goal of helping them see the world around them from the perspective of an artist. We will then dive fully into color. Using the knowledge we gained studying in black and gray the students will learn to translate their shapes, shadows, highlights and tones into colorful works of art. At the end of the six months we’ll have our first art exhibition! Students can show off the artwork they are most proud of.
The next 3 months we will be all about drawing perspectives and backgrounds. They’ll learn about one and two point perspectives. Learning to draw everything from buildings and landscapes to space stations and castles.
The last 3 months of the year we’ll design our own worlds. Drawing landscapes, buildings and bringing our characters to life in their own environments. Pulling all their work together, students can show the progress they’ve made and present their work to the community at our December 2024 art exhibition!
